In the woods is perpetual youth.
Within these plantations of God, a decorum and sanctity reign, a perennial festival is dressed, and the guest sees not how he should tire of them in a thousand years.
In the woods, we return to reason and faith.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson 1833-1836
Every morning I walk my dog on trails through the woods. Every morning I renew my youth and appreciate the fresh air, exercise and the overwhelming sense of peace. I am alone with my thoughts and can prepare for my day. I'm glad that we turn the clocks back tonight so that my walks can be a little longer each morning. I agree with Mr. Emerson. In the woods, I return to reason and faith.
